Benishino is stated that its production first started in Muromachi Period, due to the order set by an expert in tea ceremony, Soushin Shino. Generally, on its surface, there are a number of delicate cavities and cracks. Furthermore, it expresses reddish color, which is called “Hiiro” (means “color of fire” in Japanese) where the glaze is not spread on well, such as on the rim of the potteries and Yuukiwa (the word Yuukiwa refers to the boundary on a pottery where the glaze is on and not)
